Biography

Giovanna di Giglia is born 26 December 1915 in Corleone, the daughter of Giuseppe di Giglia and Maria Catalinotto.

On the SS Rex, sailing from Naples on 14 September 1935, these three passengers from Corleone appear in series on the manifest:

8. Maria Catalinotto, 54 (b. 1881), married, connected with a bracketing line to lines 9-10. Leaves a daughter, Liboria di Giglia, in Corleone, destined for NYC to join her husband Joseph di Giglia at 237 E. 107th St. with intention of permanent residence in the US. She is 4’5” with gray hair and brown eyes

9. Leoluca Di Giglia, 17 (b. 1918), single, owner, leaves sister as above, joining father as above, stands 5.0”

10. Giovanna Di Giglia, 19 (b. 1916), single, housewife, leaves sister as above, joining father as above, stands 5’1”

They all were born and last resided in Corleone, sailing on visas issued in Naples on 30 August 1935.^[1]

Giovanna Di Giglio, residing at 247 E. 116th St., NY, born 26 December 1915, issued a certificate on 24 January 1949 in the US District Court at NYC.^[2] Giovanna's sister, Lucy, is naturalized on the same day.

Two days later, Lucy marries Leoluca Bellomo. Giovanna marries Leoluca's brother, Salvatore, that May.

Salvatore Bellomo and Geovanna Di Giglio marry in Manhattan on 4 May 1949.^[3]

Salvatore is a reputed soldier in the Genovese crime family in New York City.

Salvatore and Giovanna have at least one child, Liborio Salvatore (1957).

Liborio Salvatore is born 8 January 1957^[4] in Corleone. He is active in New York's Genovese Family beginning in the 1980s.^[5]

Salvatore dies at age 65 in January 1980. He last resided in the Bronx, 10465.^[6]

Liborio, called Barney, is active in the Genovese crime family from the 1980s. He is the current boss of the Family.
